"You will seek me & find me, when you seek me with all your heart."
-Jeremiah 29:13
In the busyness of life, it’s easy to feel distant from God, as distractions & responsibilities pull us in every direction. As Christian women, we pour ourselves out for others yet sometimes find ourselves spiritually empty.
But despite the noise of the world, God’s invitation to intimacy remains unwavering. He longs for us to draw near to Him—not just through surface-level faith, but into a deep, transforming relationship that impacts every area of our lives.
What Does Intimacy with God Look Like?
Intimacy with God isn’t about striving for perfection; it’s about cultivating a personal, heartfelt relationship with Him. It’s a journey, not a destination. True intimacy with God involves:
1. Knowing God’s Heart: Spending time in His Word to understand His character, promises, & plans for our lives.“You will seek me & find me when you seek me with all your heart.” — Jeremiah 29:13
2. Open Communication: Prayer is our direct line of communication with God. It’s not about formalities but being honest & vulnerable—like talking with a close friend.“Call to Me, & I will answer you, & show you great & mighty things, which you do not know.” — Jeremiah 33:3
3. Trusting His Timing: Surrendering our worries & trusting in God’s faithfulness, knowing He works all things for our good & His glory.“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare & not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11
Steps to Awaken Your Intimacy with God
Prioritize Quiet Time
In Mark 1:35, Jesus rose early & withdrew to a solitary place to pray. Create a sacred space where you can meet with God daily. Whether it’s early mornings or quiet evenings, consistency is key.
Engage in Scripture
God’s Word is His love letter to us. Dedicate time to study passages that resonate with your current season of life. Meditate on stories of women like Hannah or Mary, who exemplified intimacy with the Lord.
Practice Gratitude & Worship
Praise shifts our focus from our circumstances to God’s goodness. Create a gratitude journal or curate a playlist of worship songs to uplift your spirit.
Be Still & Listen
Psalm 46:10 reminds us, “Be still, & know that I am God.” Silence allows us to hear His whispers & feel His presence in profound ways.
Fellowship with Like-Minded Believers
Join a women’s Bible study or prayer group to find encouragement & accountability. Share your journey & learn from others who are also seeking a closer walk with Christ.
A Prayer for Deeper Intimacy
Heavenly Father, thank You for inviting us into a close relationship with You. Help us to seek You with all our hearts & find rest in Your presence. Break down the walls that keep us from knowing You fully & teach us to trust You in every season of life. Draw us closer to Your heart & awaken a deeper intimacy with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Closing Thoughts
Awakening intimacy with God is a journey, not a destination. Each day offers new opportunities to draw closer to Him. Let us, as Daughters & Sisters in Christ, encourage one another to pursue a relationship with God that transforms our lives & overflows into the lives of those around us.
God’s love is infinite, & He’s waiting to meet you in the quiet moments of your heart.
